EU07 with a long intermodal train passes the site of tragic 1981 Osieck Rail Disaster. One can hardly imagine a worse place for a head-on collision to occur. Having entered a deep cutting with a curved section of the track, the train drivers could only notice the imminent danger a few hundred meters away from each other. If the cutting and the remote location didn't make the rescue hard enough, the collision involved a rather lightweight EN57 EMU passenger train and a heavy freight train led by two articulated ET41s. The toll was serious: 25 dead and only 8 survived, all with injuries.
